July has been a difficult month for our courts with prolonged high temperatures and flooding rains. Both of these conditions cause major stress to the root systems of the turf. We have had 19 days in July with temperatures over 90 degrees (2 days were over 100 degrees) compared to last year in July where there were only 4 days reaching 90 degrees. This year we have had 9.4" of rain here compared to last years 3.35" in July. Also when the courts have been open, we have had an increase in play from last year. The courts have been under stress the entire month of July. We are currently aerating (with knife blades), seeding and topdressing the down courts to provide you with the best quality of court that we can provide.
